Communicating with your colleagues

You can send messages to colleagues, which work like emails, and send updates in chat rooms. You can send and receive messages that are about a specific patient, and messages that are not patient-specific. You can also create chat rooms for a specific patient, and chat rooms that are not patient-specific.

From V9.0, Nervecentre Messaging allows you to message colleagues on a mobile and desktop, but you can no longer make calls through Nervecentre on a mobile.
Communicating with your colleagues on a mobile
Sending a general message
You can send messages to your colleagues.

From Messaging > Mail, select .
-
From To, enter and select the recipients of the message.

Optional: from Cc, enter and select recipients to receive a copy of the message.
You might send a copy of the message to a recipient if you want them to be informed about something, but you don't need a direct response.
You can't send a blind copy of a message.

Enter a subject for your message.
You must enter a subject to send a message.

Enter a message.
-
Send, save, or discard the message.

To send the message, select .

To save the message as a draft, select Cancel > Save Draft.
You can view drafts from Messaging > Mail > Folders > Draft

To discard the message, select Cancel > Delete Draft.

Creating an unnamed private chat room
You can create unnamed private chat rooms on a mobile.

From Messaging > Chat, select .
-
Enter the name of someone you want to add to the chat room.

Select their name from the list.

Optional: add more people to the chat room by searching for their name.

Select Confirm.
Creating a patient-specific chat room
You can create chat rooms about a specific patient.

Find the patient's record.
-
For patients attending UEC Urgent and Emergency Care. In Nervecentre, this covers 'ED areas' and SDEC., and patients who are admitted, from your patient list, select a patient.

For outpatients, from Outpatient, select a patient's appointment to view their patient record in the context of that appointment.

Select .

Optional: enter the names of the people you want to add to the watch group for this patient.
A watch group is a patient-specific chat room. People in the watch group receive updates about the patient with you.

Optional: enter an update that is sent to the chat room for this patient.

Select Create Watch.
Sending an update in a chat room
You can send updates in chat rooms.

From Messaging, select Chat.

Optional: enter the name of a chat room or the name of a watched patient to search for that chat room.

Select a chat room.
-
Type your update.
You can include emojis.

Select Send.
Communicating with your colleagues on a desktop
Sending a general message

From Messaging > , select Compose.
A dialogue box appears.

From To, enter and select the recipients of the message.
To search for a recipient, select +.

Optional: from Cc, enter and select recipients to receive a copy of the message.

You might send a copy of the message to a recipient if you want them to be informed about something, but you don't need a direct response.

Enter a subject for your message.

Enter a message.
You can format the text in the message by selecting options from the bar above the message.

Send, save, or discard the message.

To send the message, select Send.

To save the message as a draft, select Save as Draft.

To discard the message, select Delete.

Sending a patient-specific message
There are three ways to send a patient-specific message. You can send a message that contains:

Specific items from the clipboard

A link to a letter
-
Information about an order for an investigation, or the results of an investigation

Creating an unnamed private chat room
You can create an unnamed private chat room, a named private chat room, or a named public chat room. You can choose who joins a private chat room. Anyone can join a public chat room.

To create an unnamed private chat room:

From Messaging > , select Chat.

Enter the names of the people you want to add to the chat room.

Select Chat.
Creating a patient-specific chat room

Open the patient's record.

From Inpatients, select Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Outpatients, select Clinic List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From the patient banner, select .
-
Optional: enter the names of other people you want to add to the watch group for this patient.
A watch group is a patient-specific chat room. People in the watch group receive updates about the patient with you.

Optional: enter an update that is sent to the chat room for this patient.

Select Create Watch.

From Messaging > > Chat Rooms or Watched Patients, select a chat room.

Enter an update.
You can format the text in your update.

Press Enter.
